About
I’ve been designing for as long as I can remember. The innate love of history, art, architecture, furniture and fashion, combined with an inherited acuity for all things visual, set me off and running and I’ve never looked back.
I am fortunate to have a family history that includes collectors, interior designers, antique connoisseurs and dealers, patrons of the arts, aesthetic lovers and seekers. I sat at my grandmother’s knee listening to the history of a beautiful painting, a carved Italian desk, or a Ming ginger jar. The history told was not only of the piece itself, or of the artist who conceived of it, but how a certain philanthropist uncle came by it on his travels. From there the story goes on to illustrate how every piece works together to create an incredible tableau that is harmonious and balanced, calm or energetic, colorful or serene.
I’ve spent my adult life arranging, then rearranging, hunting, researching and absorbing every morsel of every design element: history, space planning, the effects of color and light, furniture and decorative objects of various periods and styles, textiles, and how all of these elements coalesce into an exquisite space.
A beautiful dwelling is personal - it is the backdrop of your life, a placeholder for your family, your accomplishments and your hopes. It’s meant to cradle its owner in comfort and inspiration. It should stimulate imagination, ideas, and even laziness if desired. It’s not just decoration, its functionality, practicality and approachability.
My job as a designer is to collaborate with the client in order to put to a physical space the client’s desire for a dwelling that seeks a definition or a framework that meets all their criteria. I bring clarity to the vague, the definition to the concept, the organization to the clutter.
Your companion from conception to completion, my collaborative, dedicated, detail-oriented, yet no-pressure approach as a freelance designer combines with the knowledge, experience, talent and resources of a larger firm to create a space that reflects you.
Whether starting with a blank slate or restyling an existing collection, accompanying you on a buying exclusion or fluffing pillows before a large event - no job is too small or too large and I love getting my hands dirty.
